Description
In his Lotus series Chen Qi depicts the flower animated, as if mirroring some source of Higher grace. Thus the viewer witnesses a tender and meditative essence of Lotus whispering the sacred knowledge. He uses the light-dark contrast to mysterious effect: the stamens, the petals, the flowers are more than providing aesthetic pleasure. They actually illuminate and disclose the inner world of the Lotus.The artist’s intent is to, thus, awake viewers’ sensitivity to wisdom told through tenderness.
